Let’s Explore… Creating textile works in 3D
July 3 2022 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Like all of our “Let’s Explore…” days, this is a day for us to play and learn from each other. No one person is “the teacher”. The main idea is to have the opportunity to spend time with like-minded people doing the “arty textile things” we all enjoy!
Please feel free to bring whatever you want to work on if you don’t want to play around with 3D textile works.
From Sculpture to Stuffed!
The moulded, shaped, knitted, knotted, pieced and manipulated are part of many Stitching and Beyond members’ fibre and textile work.
Come to this day of exploration in the third dimension!
Have you worked with 3D elements?
For this day to be a success, please bring along previous experiments or samples to share any experience you have.
Haven’t done this sort of thing before?
Have a Google of ‘fibre artists working in 3D’ for some incredible images and inspiration.
Other members are always generous and will help fill in the gaps of knowledge or materials. Roz Wren, who’s had much experience making weird costumes, puppets and large scale festival decorations, will be there with some sewing machines for group use.
What to bring
- An idea!
- Fabrics, threads, needles
- Aluminium foil, masking tape and coloured pens/fine markers
- Wash away stabiliser, PVA glue
- Stuffing, foam
- Or nothing except an open mind and some lunch!
Fee to attend, payable on the day $15 (you can do a direct deposit if you don’t have cash).
Please note: non-members will need to join us to be covered by insurance.
