Leather Sandal Making with Luna Newby

Luna Newby trained in London and has been making shoes and teaching shoe-making for 40 years. She loves passing on skills and feels passionate about keeping this art form alive.

This is a special opportunity to make a pair of leather sandals in just one day, designed to comfortably fit your unique foot size and shape. You will be expertly guided by Luna as you make your sandals step by step with regular opportunity to adjust the fitting.

The workshop will be held in the Luna Boots studio in the lovely village of Snug.

Bring your eco dyed leather (or use Luna’s leather) to make a pair of sandals fitted to your foot size.

Participants who have been lucky enough to take part in Lindy Whitton’s eco print on leather workshop are welcome to bring their printed kangaroo-hide leather to transform in this sandal making workshop.

An indication of foot size, details about foot issues and your choice of sandal style are required before the workshop. The styles offered by Luna are shown below.

Luna will be in touch with participants closer to the workshop to collect these details. She will then be able to provide the correct pattern for your size (patterns are all hand made for your particular needs).

Materials supplied by Luna – a fee of up to $50 applies (less if you bring your own outer leather)

• Insoles

• Sole unit

• Buckles

• Leather linings

• Outer leather (if required)

You will need to bring

• Your eco-printed kangaroo hide (optional)*

• Lunch (Baxter’s IGA is close by)

• Cash for materials fee (or use direct transfer from your banking app)

* NOTE: If you attended the eco-print on leather workshop with Lindy Whitton  you may bring your printed kangaroo hide to make your sandals. The materials fee will be reduced accordingly.
