Tickets are now available for “Painting with Thread: Portraiture and Still Life”, with Nicole O’Loughlin, 27-29 November. Working in hand embroidery, Nicole will teach you the skills of working in portraiture whether that be self-portraiture, a portrait of someone else or working with a still life composition to represent a portrait of someone.
Nicole is a multidisciplinary artist who predominantly works in textiles. Using traditional media in a contemporary context, Nicole challenges the idea of craft and pushes back against the industrialisation of the handmade. Her variety of skills inform her work and direct the shape the art will take, allowing for a dynamic and shifting arts practice.
We had a fabulous day of eco printing on leather at Colour Circle with Lindy Whitton. A couple of students came over from Melbourne. It was an eye opening experience to see how we could print shapes into beautiful leather hides, transforming colours under Lindy’s guiding hand.
A big thank you to Lindy for such a detailed, informative and inspirational workshop. It was a privilege to learn from such an expert.
