Three workshops which have been held recently:
FOUND AND GATHERED WITH SETH APTER, was held on March 25th.
Seth Apter is a mixed media artist, instructor, author and designer from New York City. An enthusiastic group of 12 from all corners of Australia gathered at the Moonah Arts Centre in March for a fabulous four days of mixed media creativity . Each day flew past as we started with a few sheets of paper and experimented with layering, stamping, stencilling, embossing, rusting, stitching and collage to transform the papers into pages, which we then stitched into a book format. Seth was very generous with his time, materials and knowledge and we all came away inspired to keep working on all those stashed papers and supplies to turn them into amazing works of art.
TOTEMS AND TALISMANS WITH IRENE MANION, was held from March 15th to 17th.
This was an enjoyable and inspiring workshop exploring transfer dyes, colour, machine stitching techniques and ways of incorporating them into textile art. It was enjoyed by all with totems, talismans and landscapes taking shape as the workshop progressed.
LANDSCAPE COLLAGE WITH GLORIA LOUGHMAN, was held on April 18th.
Well, what fun that was! Gloria was an excellent teacher who uses quite a different technique of layering to achieve beautiful collages. Students either used their own images or were able to use one of Gloria’s as inspiration.
