Colour Play with Leah Higgins – join us for a fabulous workshop with Manchester-based textile artist Leah Higgins. Leah’s art practice is inspired by man-made buildings and industrial structures that shape the urban landscape around her home. Her creative process starts with colour and mark. She works directly onto fabric, often using breakdown, or deconstructed, printing to create a cohesive collection of fabrics characterised by dense mark and complex, often neutral colours.
In this gloriously colourful workshop you will learn how to predict and control colour when using Procion reactive dyes, before experimenting with a range of simple screen printing techniques to create your own palette of fabric from your own source of inspiration. You will work with a variety of resists to produce a range of really exciting, expressive fabrics which you can then incorporate in your own work. The workshop is suitable for beginners and for those who want better control of their screen printing outcomes.
This workshop will be held from 21 to 22 April 2023 from 9.30am-4.30pm. Cost $335 including all dyes and auxiliaries.
