Great news – Stitching and Beyond’s application to Salamanca Arts Centre to exhibit in 2027 has been accepted! Our biennial Out of Hand exhibition will be in the Long Gallery from Friday 24th September to Sunday 3rd October 2027 (set up 22nd September, take down 4th October). Our concurrent Lightbox exhibition will run from 22nd September to 25th October 2027.
2027 is a special year for Salamanca Arts Centre, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. We will take this anniversary as the theme for our Lightbox exhibition. We would like members to make textile squares (15 x 15 cm, any medium), which will be stitched together for hanging in the Lightbox. You might choose to illustrate the history of the SAC buildings, which have connections to whaling and fruit canning, your own connection to SAC through the arts, or simply the number ‘50’. When planning your exhibition pieces for the Long Gallery, please also consider including pieces that celebrate SAC’s longstanding and vital contribution to so many artistic disciplines in Tasmania.
