Tracy’s knowledge of naturally derived inks, pigments and paints, is impressively vast.
At her recent workshop (10/11th Oct) held at the Colour Circle, Tracy filled our heads with recipes, methods and suggestions for extracting colour from natures’ bounty. Photos from the workshop are here.
We sampled, mixed and tested a large variety of Tracy’s sample inks, simmered violas and eucalyptus leaves to make inks, ground and mulled oyster shells to make white pigment, learned how to make charcoal from seaweed, sticks or chicken bones and so much more. Tracy was most ably helped by Denise Vanderlugt who, most generously, volunteered her valuable time to us.
Thank you Tracy and Denise, I for one, now have a head suitably filled and am excited to start making my own colours. (Roz Wren)
