Groups’ News:
Northeast group (St Marys) report – a fun day!
From Rita: We headed off to Campbelltown from St Marys last Monday morning (11 May), carpooling and collecting another member at Fingal as well as swapping cars. Being so keen we arrived too early so we treated ourselves to a cuppa at Sweetbrew first, which we decided might become part of our regular routine. Then we made our way to Sherrie Jewson’s studio and received a warm welcome. Sherrie let us play with her gelli plates and paints all day, and she generously shared some tips and techniques to help us through various processes. Just as well, since we were all gelli plate virgins! It was hard to stop and inspiration was definitely flowing. We tried various papers, and cloth too, always having stitching at the back of our minds. Thank you so much Sherrie, for your hospitality and sharing your space and ‘toys’ with us! Our next meeting will be in St Marys at Rita Summers’ place on 8 June (10.30-3). $10 includes refreshments; BYO lunch.
Northern group (Riverside) report
Rowena writes: The Northern Group met on Monday,18th of May. A warm and sunny day after thick fog saw our group enthusiastically embracing our next challenge : We are looking at further developing our needlework abilities and to that end, a number of samplers and books were scoured for ideas and practice began in earnest under the tutelage of our mentor Lynne Hargreaves. Photos are in the Gallery for you to see. Some of this brought back memories of high school Home Arts (but much more exciting these days lol)
Northwest group (Penguin) report
From Stephanie: Our second gathering had a focus on gelli plate printing. Members with experience shared strategies and tips to enable attending members to develop the knowledge and skills to create usable images. The group continues to meet in Penguin and welcomes anyone who would love to spend time expanding and sharing stitching and beyond skills. For further details please contact Stephanie.
