The November Let’s Explore event was a great success. Stitching and Beyond member Steph writes:
On Sunday 20 November, 9 keen sewers rolled into the KWC rooms ready to learn or cement what
they already knew about procion dyeing techniques. Chris very capably introduced the less
knowledgeable amongst us to a range of ways to dye fabrics but this day was to be dyeing in a
tray.
After blessing the rain gods who prevented the skies from opening up as threatened, we
scrunched and pleated our fabric samples into the tray, and some into jars and other
containers. A test of the colours available, choices made, some colours mixed, and in we dived.
A squirt here, a drizzle there as well and the fabrics and skeins of threads were submerged in
the chosen colours. Some of us did a few, some did many more. Like all good outcomes, we had
to wait to see the results; for most of us that was Monday. While waiting we trawled through the
extensive array of samples provided by both Joyce and Chris along with the accompanying texts
and exchanged lots of ideas.
And in between, the chat, and some stitch, and lunch.
All very interesting, a few techniques that some will explore even further.
