Gatherings – Let’s Explore

Let’s Explore Basketry Techniques – The traditional art of basketry makes use of natural materials, including young twigs from trees and shrubs like willow, plant roots, grape or honeysuckle vines, and a wide variety of grasses.  Various methods include weaving, twining and coiling.

Many textile artists use these techniques to create texture and interest in their work. Come along to explore the options and perhaps make a small coiled and stitched textile vessel!

Sunday 25 September 10am-3pm. Check the event listing for full details.

Let’s Explore Radical Fibres, Glues and Stiffeners – We  had such an enjoyable day viewing, touching, discussing and seeing samples, after which we settled to a time of stitch and chat. Included were lutradur, evolon, grilon thread, tyvek, various soluble fabrics and Gossamer web…just to name about a third of what people brought along. Thanks to all who participated and shared.
