Laura’s art expresses a signature use of atmospheric hues, collage and embroidery embellishment to create works which can be abstract or literal in form. In this workshop Laura used the emotive power of nature as inspiration, enabling her students to explore land and seascapes during different times of day e.g. sunrise, sunset, dusk and the fleeting changes by the elements and seasons. With this understanding, they went on to create atmospheric artworks with mixed media textiles. They focused on colour, texture, movement and light to create impressionistic works using vintage fabrics, recycled clothing, paints, ephemera and hand /machine embroidery techniques.
