Ken Smith is a very well known Australian textile artist who has experimented extensively with silk dyeing using shibori and related techniques. This was a wonderful three days where students each put her own mark on the way her cloth was prepared and dyed using Ken’s basic instruction, which is exactly what Ken wanted to happen. It was especially instructive to learn the ways in which dye behaves on silk. “Westwinds” at Woodbridge proved to be a delightful setting.
