Let’s Explore – Maximising the Cabochon Effect
February 1 2026 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Cabochons are those very exotic pieces of glass that inspire images of the Middle East and other exotic places in history.
With Pauline’s guidance we will create an encrusted cabochon with stitch and seed beads (no glue!)
You will be shown how to bead around a cabochon without glueing – the beads will hold it in place. You can then expand on this to make a pendant or brooch.
Pauline will provide the base silk fabric, stabilised with iron-on interfacing, in various colours to choose from.
What to bring
- A flat gemstone cabochon (i.e. amethyst/agate) approx. 3.5 – 5 cm, as close to an oval as possible – it must be flat (see the image below) Pauline will have a few for sale

- Bugle beads and seed beads in your colour choice – also a few small feature beads
- Matching thread and a needle small enough to go through the beads
- A small pair of scissors
- Your lunch (or cash to purchase lunch nearby)
- Note: your membership provides tea, green tea, instant coffee, milk and mugs
