Let’s Explore – Adding stitch to printed fabrics & papers

Heather will be leading further exploration into using our previously stencilled and stamped fabrics this month.

Bring along your printed fabric and paper and explore ways of stitching them. You may wish to make a finished item and/or small experimental pieces.

Please bring any examples of stitched prints you have to share with the group.

What to bring

• printed fabric and paper
• any fabric or paper you wish to combine with the prints including organza, tulle, off cuts
• backing fabric to add to the printed fabric/paper for stabilising when stitching
• hand stitching equipment e.g. needles, threads, pins, scissors
• machine stitching equipment e.g. sewing machine, threads, pins, scissors, a range of needle sizes glue stick, ruler
• examples of stitched printing to share
• any embellishments you may wish to add e.g. beads, sequins, buttons, lace, ribbon
• oil sticks to add colour
• your lunch (there are shops nearby otherwise)

How to join KWC and attend our regular Explore Days

• Any financial Stitching and Beyond member who is also a member of the Kingborough Women’s Club (KWC) ($40 per annum) is welcome to join our monthly Let’s Explore Sundays at no extra cost.

• If you aren’t already a KWC member you can apply here then scan or photograph your form and email it to sandbmemberships@gmail.com with “KWC Application” in the header.
  Alternatively, you could bring the form with you on a Let’s Explore Sunday.

• Once we reply to your email, then please make payment directly to KWC.
  The annual fee is $40 and is due 1 July each year.
