Let’s Explore – Adding stitch to printed fabrics & papers

Stitching our stencilled and block printed fabrics and papers

Heather will be leading our further exploration into using our previously stencilled and stamped fabrics this month.

Bring along your printed fabric and paper and explore ways of stitching them. You may wish to make a finished item and/or small experimental pieces. Please bring any examples of stitched prints you have to share with
the group.

What to bring

• printed fabric and paper
• any fabric or paper you wish to combine with the prints including organza, tulle, off cuts
• backing fabric to add to the printed fabric/paper for stabilizing when stitching
• hand stitching equipment e.g. needles, threads, pins, scissors
• machine stitching equipment e.g. sewing machine, threads, pins, scissors, a range of needle sizes glue stick, ruler
• examples of stitched printing to share
• any embellishments you may wish to add e.g. beads, sequins, buttons, lace, ribbon
• oil sticks to add colour
• your lunch (there are shops nearby otherwise)
