If you are planning to visit any exhibitions in Hobart, it would be a good idea to phone ahead first to check they are open. Some are having viewings via prior booking, some are welcoming visitors with all the usual protocols of sanitiser etc, while some are closed.

INTO THE FOLD   Exhibition of pattern and textile design by the multicultural women Roz Wren, Nadia Rafaei and Rebecca Holmes have inspired and taught in Moonah – go see it! So much deliciousness! On now until March 28

The exhibition brings together creative women from our community to share their stories and explore the journey of belonging.

The fabric and artworks displayed are the outcome of a series of workshops and skill-sharing sessions facilitated by the Moonah Arts Centre over 6 months.

Handmark in Hobart Faridah Cameron — new paintings 13 to 30 March

I learnt to sew and knit at the same time as learning to read and write. So the thread-like way of applying paint comes naturally to me; it’s a kind of calligraphy. Thread is also a means of connection and of repair, and I like working with that metaphor.

“My work is abstract, and constructed with a threadlike application of paint that often resembles fabric,” Faridah explains. “They are a response to what happens, and I have long since abandoned any distinction between my life and my art.”
